Title: Iarla - A new beginning
Post by: iarla on July 03, 2009, 04:35:13 pm
Hello everyone. I'm interested in self development, both for my self and other peoples selves :) I believe in life beyond the physical. I also believe that we are sometimes walking reactions to influences we don't fully understand yet. I'm hoping to discover some of these. I'm a practical person too so I'm interested in what can be of benefit to myself and others. I also believe that the life we experience (our environment, body, relationships, careers etc) are all holograms of our mindset - both conscious and unconscious.

I am ready and hungry for change. I have spent quite a few years in a sort of walking coma and being depressed. I am very optimistic now. My focus at present is learning how to raise and manage my energy levels so that when I do create the life I want, I'll be *able* to live it :) I also want to face my fears and live life more fully from now on.

My inspirations so far are Eckhart Tolle, Caroline Myss and Pamela Oslie.

I may a touch of ADD and reading takes a lot of effort, but I am making myself read books and forums that are important to me.

I'm really looking forward to sharing hearts and minds here. I know quite a few of you already  O0

Why hi!

I thought it would only be fitting if I dropped by and said hello seeing as you were so kind to come past my palace lol.

Oh dear me, where are my manners! I've been jabbering away all this time and still haven't said WELCOME!  O0

Hmm...my goodness would you look at that I've run out of things to say! This is a day I shall not forget.....*insert sweeping of cloak and disappearing in a puff of smoke....here*

Ah, thank you Deveswar. My favourite definition for the name is

"Iarlaithe ♂ (Irish) Traditional name from ior (of uncertain meaning) + flaith ‘prince, leader". I live in hope that it's not prince of camp costumery or something like that LOL. Another definition says Lord of the West.

We really have a lovely group here. I'm delighted to be a part of it.

Thank you candlelight - hope you're enjoying your post-christening relaxation!

Jess, I've been thinking more about the psychology course.. no decision but it's not leaving me alone. We'll see what happens :)

Allright Mick! Thank you very much, I will definitely vent your way when I need it. As you mentioned in your native American prayer, my biggest adversary is myself - which can be frustrating :) But at least there's only one place to put your attention when things go belly up. I don't blame others so much any more.

I was thinking the same thing about the internet. I'd be lucky to meet one person like all the great folks here. My townsfolks are *still* talking about the death of a recent music celebrity. So glad to have a link to everyone here :D

Hello Iarlaith,

You'll notice we have an Aussie princess on the forum and it is great to see an allegiance between our fair kingdoms. Medusa is the queen here and all the staff are dead.

I'm glad it is your finger in all the pies 'coz I had a fleeting image of that scene from American Pie (the movie) as I read that part of your thread.

Perhaps you could start a thread called 'Creating The Life You Want' and see what pops up.

I like playing the geetar (that's me Texan drawl).

A belated yet very warm welcome.

Just dropping in to see if you are all still sane.

Iarla that meditation changes you. You will find the world tends to look different and strange events occur over the next few days. Enjoy them and please share with us if you want.

BugEye, thank you very much - late is better than never  ;) Yes, the geetar is great. Once I got to the stage that I could accompany my singing I stopped practicing pretty much hehe. As for the pies, yikes - I hope nobody got there before me!!!  :D

Hi Eugene, I'm just about sane thanks. You really should package that meditation and put it on iTunes or Amazon or something so more people can access it. It's very layered and rich and the quality of the vocal recording and music is excellent. People need this on their mp3players!

You are one funny guy,

I rent a small studio, it's a vamped storage shed actually. There are 13 bands renting there. I have good JBL speakers and a good quality mixer etc so I shoot down there at all hours and like blast away the night.

I write great songs so here's a small verse I wrote for me missus.

On my knees I will crawl,
Over broken pieces of my heart,
And together I'll collect them all,
And make a brand new start,

And love is what I'll give to you.
I'll make your dreams come true.
I'll do my very best to please you.
I trust us two and the love we grew.

Hmmm only truth I shall tell,
And all my secrets I dispell.

Lucky missus, mine.

Wow BugEye! Those versus are amazing! I promise not to plagerize :) Have you put music to them? It will be hard to find music that does those words justice - you made my heart stutter. Very succinct and touching, well done.

My lyrics are not so deep lately but just as heartfelt - Imagine a johnny cash type backing :)

Well since you left me baby
Cheerios I'm eatin' daily
For breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert.

I tried cooking and bowling,
Joined a gym and got a nose ring,
But nuthin' seems to take away the hurt.

So I'm sitting here in my sitting room
Eating Cheerios with a tablespoon
Wearing nothing but a frown and your old skirt

My housemates have moved out
And the landlords giving out,
Saying 'lose that skirt, or find another house

Chorus:
It took so long to accept you didn't care
But Cheerios, they only take a moment to prepare
So I'll just sit here eating Cheerios, pretending I don't care
While you're out there being you and being wonderful

And when you come a crawlin'
Knocking on my door
I'll say sorry, but I'm busy eatin' Cheerios - ya whore
You're dragging up old feelings
And you push them to the fore
And you can take your skirt
It doesn't fit me anymore

I'll be recording these soon hopefully, I'll put them in my sig I think. Do you write much?

Man - you are good! How did make something so sad so funny. I sincerely say that is ingenious!

I perform the songs. I recorded that one a couple of years back. It's a bit dodgy, but I'll ask the missus to email it to you, just for a lark.

I play this kinda stuff mostly. I do all the picking in fine detail and sing. --- stuff like this and some delta type blues. We went to his concert recently - very cool indeed!

Enjoy.

An hour in the bath with Eckhart Tolle

Thank you so much guys, that was lovely to come back to :) All the gigs went well, in spite of my panic.

I got so stressed over the last few days that I got pretty sick and anxiety, despair, mental hysteria and all that crept in. Didn't eat or sleep much. I let down a singer that I just couldn't get the stuff ready for on time but managed to make alternate arrangements.

After my body started to tremor with anxiety I decided to run a bath and decided that I wasn't getting out until I managed to completely accept and embrace the situation and make peace with it. I popped on an Eckhart Tolle CD (so he wasn't technically in the bath with me, but he would have been welcome in any form at this stage :) )  It worked a treat and I've been feeling like new since. I'm completely serene, driving at 25 MPH and everything LOL

Finding your postings here have just been the icing on the cake, thanks so much  smitten

Hi Iarla,

Glad to know the gigs went well, and listening to Eckhart Tolle  brightened your spirits.

I think often times people panic when they feel they've let others down (speaking from personal experience), and it's always good to take a step back from the situation and recharge, as you did.

Welcome back, by the way :)

I am listening to this Kirtana song now and I am deeply moved. smitten

I often wonder why so many people say the same words in various ways but very few actually live what they believe to be true.  ac[

I think the sixties was there to give the indigo people a wake up call and give them a glimpse of what can happen.

Gosh this was awesone. This is probably my intro to Kirtana and I love it.

Hello Iarla,

Thank you for sharing this song with us  8)

Unfortunately I cannot listen to it here, but as soon as I have a chance I most definitely will. From what everyone has said, I am sure to enjoy it.

I have to agree with Eugene here in regards to the 60's being a time of awakening for many, and it is a shame indeed that many preech but do not practice. It is good to know that there are many others who do, though :)

Title: Re: Iarla - A new beginning
Post by: iarla on July 13, 2009, 06:24:26 pm
From personal experience, I think the reason some don't practice what they preach is because they don't truly believe it yet, or are afraid of it, or are not yet ready to let go of something. I caught myself doing the same thing once, and when I realized I was talking but not practicing - I dug deep to find out why and then made my inner fears feel warm and welcome inside me. Then they quitened down and I could move forward yet another step.

Title: Re: Iarla - A new beginning
Post by: Traveller on July 13, 2009, 06:53:03 pm
Good point, Iarla.

I also think many people are afraid to break out of old ways of being (speaking from personal experience here also), and want to remain as they are now, in a comfort zone. Fear would play a big part.

Title: Re: Iarla - A new beginning

Yeah and then you get the ones who lie to themselves. They say what needs to be said and they agree with it mentally. They really do. But their whole makeup does not agree.

We are multi dimentional beings and the mind is but one dimention. So when a person agrees it is only his representative part that agrees and sadly, some will never know about the parts that don't agree because it is a common trendency to believe that if an entity does not use words to communicate, it is stupid.

Welcome Back!

I know how you feel. I prepare for a performance quite well by going to my studio before hand to the 'up the anti'.

I get very delicate as the date approaches too, and difficult to live with.

I have a method where I allow myself to become wrought with nervous anxiety a couple of days before the appearance, so most of the tension is gone on the actual day. I kind of use up all the nerves the day before. Still, it's pretty daunting to strut out on stage all by myself on the night.

Great to see you back!

Hi Eugene, I completely agree. Lying to others to support the lies we tell ourselves is a habit of many. I've even caught myself doing it LOL I went through a phase in my teens where I'd be saying something to friends like "I don't care what people think of me.." only to follow it up with "hang on.. that's a lie!" Every one of these self corrections brings more consciousness into your existence.

PrincessTiff, I'm glad you liked the pic. I have a few newphews and nieces (and even a grand nephew!) and that picture always cracks me up!

Thanks for the warm welcome back BugEye. Thanks for sharing your method with me - it's similar to my method, where I don't allow myself practice the day before the gigs and just play pool or something. At the moment I'm playing with 2 bands, rehearsing with another and DJing / MCing and the stress levels are beyond managable now. So I'm keeping the main band and the DJ work and dropping the rest. It's been a good method of practicing 'presence' and trying to not get caught up in anxiety, but the coldsores, stomach cramps and anxiety have won this battle. I'll be back though!

Traveller, thank you so much for the music. I haven't listened to that Beatles one in ages and it's a great one. Would you believe two of our band members want to do the Lee Anne Womack song! I think it's requested for an upcoming first dance also. I had never heard of it until recently and now I'm hearing it everywhere LOL

Juzzie Smith is excellent, I love that style of music. I'm pretty blown away by his ryhthms and harmonica playing. Is there a limb he doesn't use?!

I hope you all have a great weekend guys - thanks for dropping by!

Hey Iarla,

Glad you liked the music, and I'm also a big Juzzie Smith fan,the man is very talented indeed :)

Sounds like you've got a lot on over there, and  reducing stress is a great move. I always find I get too overwhelmed to concentrate properly if I have too many projects going and lose focus.

Good luck with the band and the DJ work. Hope you end up playing that Leanne Womack song, that would be cool.

Have an awesome weekend,

Traveller.

I played bass first, before learning the geetar and we played all the time, 3 and five times a week. Steevy Ray, Hendrix, Buddy guy, Styx etc etc etc - real good band - really good.

Y'know, the music can really mess with ya, with the pressure, always off with the fairies in musical wonderland, just the level of energy and focus of concentration, going into like hyperdrive all the time, beyond one's normal levels of being. Always like 1000 people watching so nerves all the time

Have to keep the feet on the ground too.

Makes Ya Feel Alive!

BugEye - I think you have place misceivous code here to make your name become BugBrat when we post :) I nearly had heart failure thinking I had made some mistake and caused offence. You are a messer  O0 I've managed to organize myself now so there will be no more of these 'wheel of death' gigs where I don't know what I'm doing.

Traveller - thanks, I got through everything okay. I'm not totally happy with the church gig I did. I may not cash the cheque they gave me. But they were happy and the feedback for all the other gigs was excellent. I even got calls the next morning from people asking to book us. One of them saw us and another had been pretty much ordered by a friend at one of the shows to get us for their event. Really happy - I'm so proud of the rest of the band. They're really nice guys (and gal!).

Candlelight - thank you, I think the faeries were on my side this weekend. I learned a lot about my personal limits, stress levels and a bit about the importance of keeping my word. It was transfroming actually LOL

Ann - thank you so much. I can actually smell those :) I hope you're week is beautiful also.

I'm sending you all my good vibrations this week!

Oh no, I'm just a fun loving guy with a devious sence of humour, no offense at all, I worry I cause offence. Not easy being 'Pro-fester Head Cheeze' y'know.

Yep - wild gigs can really put a man on edge, hard to keep a level head when yer in musical dreams all the time ay. Drove me to drink that R+R lifestyle.  :)

You were awarded poem of the week in the new weekly newsletter. Did you like the newsletter?

I loved the newsletter, it's a great idea. And as I just said to Eugene, I turned bright red here when I saw my verse at the end of it. Just when I thought I had the gigs behind me too LOL. Thank you so much.

Ah yes, the drinking used to be my musical diesel. Funnily enough, when I quit drinking (or cut down anyway) my taste in music changed. I couldn't listen to Led Zepplin for example without getting a lip on me for a few pints hehe

Glad you liked the newsletter.

We want 'letters to the editor' too now, we can only fit in a short paragraph and perhaps two letters.

"letters to the editor guys". PM them to Bugeye.

I used to drink quite heavy when I was younger but it was never a problem.

Now that I am older I dont drink much if at all. BUT when I see someone in a movie drinking clean wiskey or brandy I feel like doing the same.

Also with Cigarettes. Its almost two months now. When I see someone else smoking I feel like smoking too. hat is the ONLY time lately when I feel like smoking. So I avoid movies with too much smoking in it.

Thanks candles. It's a big inspirational circle in this place so I can't take full credit for it. But if I read it in a magazine my lawyers will be in touch with the maintainers of the site LOL

Eugene, well done on quitting the cigarettes. I admire your determination. The cigarettes quit me so I had it easy. They made me sick and I *eventually* stopped.

That reminds me, when we were younger - I put a load of matchstick heads in a friends cigarette I 'offered' to roll for him. He was a big rugby player and he relaxed back in the sofa with his hands clasped behind his head - enjoying the cigarette his faithful servant had just rolled for him. When it blew up in his face and synged his forhead, we nearly passed out with laughter  surfing

Boo!!!!

Hello Stranger =D

How are you on this fine Tuesday morning? I'm feeling very light and happy after attending my Development Circle last night so I have lots of smiles I want to pass around. Here's one for you -->  ;D

Love,
Tiff xxxx

Hi Iarla :)

Glad to hear the gigging went quite well, and seems  the band's popularity is growing, so that's awesome news!

It's important to be able to manage stress, so good on you for managing that, too, and dropping what doesn't work for you.

Good on you for giving up the cigarettes, too, Eugene  8)

Have a  great week guys.

Boo!!!!

Hello Stranger =D

Tiff - you scared the life out of me. I've spilled my coffee all over my trousers and everything my God - I'll have to plan a little prank on you :)

I'm doing really great thanks. I've found some kind of muscle in my brain where other peoples negativity doesn't affect me at all. I'm practicing now and even having a coffee with some clowns I know just to practice hee hee. Well, if you can't beat them - use them for training LOL

Now if I can only exercise the muscle that get's me out of bed in the morning and into some gym gear!

Hi Traveller, thanks for dropping by. You have a great week too and I hope you have a good catch up with your friend.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!

I seem to be developing the same muscle, to keep negativity at arms length =D Feels nice doesn't it? Like floating....

Hehehe I think I need to locate the muscle that will just get me out of bed. Poor Noah usually has to sit in his cot for a few minutes before I find the strength to get out of bed...I'm hoping it's some left over adolescent thing and will disappear in a few years lol =D

As for the gym....I do all my exercise at Night lol. I am definitely not a morning person....

Lots of Love,
Tiff xxxx

Hi Iarla :)

That muscle is great to use isn't it? I'm only just learning how to use the deflect-negativity muscle myself :)

As for exercise, I used to be quite disciplined and exercise every morning, but I think I will soon become an evening exerciser too.

Getting out of bed was easy in Summer, but not so carefree in winter sadly, and poor Astra has learnt not to disturb me till about 6:30 now instead of 5:30, clever dog, indeed.

Take care, and have a great week,

Traveller.

Thanks Tiff, I might try the late exercising. My ex was a gym instructor and told me there's no point in working out in the evening.. something to do with adrenaline lasting for quite a few hours after the workout or something. But none of the other laws of cause and effect seem to apply to me so I shall give it a try. Maybe we can set up an video conference work-out with Traveller and anyone else who wants to join in LOL

Hi Traveller, when you said Astra has "learned" not to disturb you I instantly had a mental picture of all sorts of bedside objects being hurled through the air. That's what I call on the job training :D You're right though, the weather has a huge influence on motiviation for me also. When it's sunny I'm too happy and care free and when the weather is heavy, I get heavy also. I now have all my friends Men's Health magazines in my place from when he left the country. People always laugh when they see them - I assume there's something funny on one of the covers that I haven't figured out yet..

Hi Harry, it's good to hear from you. Thanks for dropping in.

A work out conference sounds good :D

Hahahaha, no, I'm not that mean to my poor Astra :) although sometimes it's crossed my mind :)

Hi hO!

I don't know what to say.

I've been fighting with realestate owners. This place is dumpy and I've breached the landlord for lease violation and we're moving and the new landlord is very evasive with lease documents. I had to sort it all out myself today and get them ready for her to sign!

They're all dodgy!

Mate, she tried to get eighteen hundred bucks off me without a bond form or lease. I refused so she came back today with expired bond forms and an incorrect lease. I got me own forms and set the bond straight and ..... etc etc etc!

 crazy2

Man - I can't believe that in this day and age some people still won't explore ways to earn a living and work with integrity at the same time.

I had seen you lurking around the forum and was going to leave a message here before you posted LOL but you beat me to it.

Integrity is for people who rent.

I got the documents done. I'll take the current landlord into dispute for breaching lease on Tuesday.  knuppel2.

We have a guest from Melbourne staying with us for three days (while we move).

Alot going on around here - my head hurts, so I took three panadols.

Hi Ho Merry - O

The move went roughly mate, as moves tend to do. Our houseguest is blind too, so Traveller and her just tripped around doing tourist things while I moved the things and scubbed out the old place (and the new place was a bit grubby too so I have a bit of polishing up there too). Hard business moving.

I'm taking the old landlady to court to anull our lease there - she's a monster that one! They are not truthful people. I should be able to nail them fairly easily though. Never been to court B4 (nothing I care to mention anyway) so I'm hoping for some beginner's luck!

 May happiness be yours!

 :)

That is very funny and true.

BugEye, I've been very busy too lately so I know how you feel. I thought I'd have to ditch one of my regular gigs but I've managed to get on top of things and I'm feeling pretty good. I should have more time to read everyones posts now :)

Things have settled down for me too. I have the court date on Tuesday, but they will probably settle things on monday morning, because they know they don't stand a chance since it is easy tp prove they broke the agreement stipulated in the lease.

I've managed to resurect my music during the last week too, so I feel I'm getting back on track. I'm going to get a new gig tomorrow too, which will be confirmed on tuesday. So, the drama ends and I start anew all on the same day!

 :)
