Hmm Is'n Shiatsu just another name for acupressure?

AHHH now I dont think I'd heard it been called that before babes mmm
Quote
Acupressure (a blend of "acupuncture" and "pressure") is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique derived from acupuncture. In acupressure physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the hand, elbow, or with various devices. Reviews of acupressure clinical trials have been conducted by the Cochrane Collaboration and Bandolier according to the protocols of evidence-based medicine; for most conditions they have concluded a lack of effectiveness or lack of well-conducted clinical trials.

Shiatsu is a healing art that has its origins in Chinese medicine and traditional massage techniques of Japan. The basis of Shiatsu is that vital energy (called Ki in Japanese) flows throughout the body in a series of channels called meridians. For many different reasons Ki can stop flowing freely and can produce a range of common ailments and symptoms.

Considering your state of health, the symptoms being experienced and also your general energy levels, a variety of techniques are used to improve the energy flow. These include gentle holding, pressing with palms and thumbs on the meridians, or more dynamic stretches and rotations.

As the quality of Ki changes, the symptoms associated with a lack of flow will gradually improve.

Shiatsu is a therapy that works on the individual as a complete being, not just the physical body but also on the emotional and mental level.

Common conditions that can be helped by Shiatsu

    * Anxiety, depression and stress related problems
    * Headaches and migraines
    * Neck shoulder and back pain
    * Muscle and joint problems
    * Menstrual problems
    * Lack of energy
    * Circulatory problems
    * Digestive problems
    * Asthmatic symptoms
    * Insomnia

Benefits of Shiatsu

    * Relaxes the mind and the body
    * It restores and balances energy
    * Eases tension and stiffness
    * Improves breathing
    * Assists circulation
    * Enhances well-being
