Angels – The Bridge to the Divine

The closest to the human being is the Guardian Angel that is with us all the time in its role as gatekeeper of our soul. Our Guardian Angel is with us from the moment of our birth and is always watching over us. It can call other Angels to come into our life to help us with different things and in this way asking the help of your guardian angel opens up for the help of the unaccountable number of angels that exist. Our guardian angel is always by our side ready to help us in any way, taking part in every little detail of our lives. Even if our guardian angel’s only task is to help and guide us it cannot if we do not allow it.

Angels cannot interfere in our lives uninvited, as they have endless respect for our free will. For this reason it is good to remember Jesus message: “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened”. (Luke 11:9-10 NIV)
Angels are here to assist us and influence us in the most positive way but always respecting our individual freedom. Therefore we need to remember to ask for their assistance, guidance and protection.

In her book “Angels in my hair”, Lorna Byrne describes that “God is pouring these beautiful angels out on this world for us and yet many of us ignoring them”. She says that angels whisper advices in people’s ears but we are frequently thinking it is a silly thought and we disregard what we are asked to do. To hear this whisper clearly and dare to follow it, we need to open our minds for the existence of the angels and learn to listen to their voices in our heart – which are in fact the voice of God
In the everyday life when we say someone is an angel or like an angel we speak about purity, beauty or to describe a kind and lovable person. One who manifests goodness, purity and selflessness. One that through his/her service or simply just by his/her presence makes a difference in others’ lives and is making life better. This is a person who knowingly or not is in contact with the world of angels or as we say in yoga; a person who is in resonance with the sphere of force of the angels.

There are many ways to amplify our connection with angels. Some of them are through our dreams, meditation, praying, or simply by invoking them. By opening our heart and becoming more kind, giving and loving we will also enter in resonance with the angels that are an expression of the pure love from God. The more we nourish the connection with the angels the more sensitive we will become of their presence and the more we will hear their voices in our heart speaking the language of divine love

Angels are beings of light, and they are described in lots of different religions and spiritual traditions as well as by everyday people. They are described as guardians to man, messengers of the Divine, facilitators of the Will of God, supporters and protectors of the manifestation – the world, having enormous power. They are beings of Truth, Purity, Love, Harmony, Perfection and Wisdom; beings of higher vibration that inspire, protect and guide. They represent the connection, the bridge between Heaven and Earth.
The etymology of the word Angel comes from the Greek word άγγελος (aggelos) that means the one that brings the Divine message to the human beings.
Emanuel Swedenborg – an 18th century Swedish scientist, mystic and clairvoyant who had extensive experiences with Angels - mentioned that the number of angels is unaccountably vast, having their own cities, houses, clothes, language, different qualities and attributes.

Different faiths, mythologies, spiritual traditions, philosophies and cultures have references on Angels. Angels are found from pre-dynastic (ancient) Egypt to modern times. They are mentioned in the Hindu and in the Buddhist tradition as Devas or divine messengers; Malaikah in the Islamic tradition is the word for Angels and in the Judaism we find the term Malachim. What is common for all is that they are the divine messengers that bring the word of God to the human beings and thus connect us to the Divine.

In the Christian tradition we find the text named ‘Celestial Hierarchies’ ascribed to Dionysius the Areopagite who wrote about the angelic hierarchies also known as spheres and choirs.

The first hierarchy is the one closest to God and receives directly the light from the Source. It consists of Seraphims (Angels of pure love), Cherubims (Angels of wisdom) and Thrones (great supporters of the whole cosmos).
The second hierarchy protects the divine purpose. It comprises the Dominions (celestial prefects, defenders against evil), Virtues (healers, make miracles happen) and Powers (Lords of Karma, Angels of birth and death, associated with stars).
The third hierarchy cares for all created beings. It consists of Principalities (protect cities, nations, big corporations, any large structure of people), Archangels (leading bands of Angels, oversee large projects with the light; the closest Archangels to earth are Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel) and Guardian Angels
