Hey is this the same place hun ?

Hangings at Heskin Hall, Lancashire

The Civil War was far from the gentlemanly conflict that has so often been portrayed in film and on television. The death toll throughout the British Isles was around 900,000, only a relatively small percentage of them on the battlefield. Many died in appalling atrocities, with Cromwell’s vile activities in Ireland of course leaving his name blackened there to this day. Lancashire was, like Ireland, a place where Catholicism was still deeply entrenched, and the terrible events at Heskin Hall near Eccleston during the Civil War are a horrific illustration of destructive religious hatred at that time.

The story goes that Parliamentary troops seized the house, and found a Catholic Priest hiding there. He, faced with the prospect of a grizzly death at the hands of the Puritan Roundheads if they knew him to be a Catholic, claimed to have converted to the Protestant faith. When the soldiers refused to believe him he betrayed the family as Catholics, and offered to hang their youngest daughter from a beam in the place to show his allegiance was not with Rome. The officer in charge of the troops called his bluff, and the disgustingly cowardly cleric strung the poor child up without qualms. It did him no good. The Roundheads were not fooled for a second, and they used the same rope over the same beam to execute the pathetic priestling.
It is said that both the girl and the priest haunt Heskin Hall still: there are reports of the girl being seen pursued in death as she was in life by the creepy churchman; she is most often observed in the Scarlet Bedroom, though the kitchen has seen apparitions too.
